Israel Journey #5C – Forest, Sea, Galilee, Oh My!

We are having an incredible first week full of learning, exploring, and new experiences!

Today, we started out with ODT programming. Then, we departed Jerusalem and headed to Caesarea, a town on Israel’s Mediterranean coast. Here, we got to visit Harod’s Roman amphitheater and grand palace. We learned about the history of Herod and his creations across Israel. Our tour guide Shir educated us on the city of Caesarea and how Herod’s life story fits into the story of Tisha b’Av. After checking out the Roman ruins, we were all schvitzing so we headed to the beach for a picnic lunch overlooking the Mediterranean (wow what a view!).

Afterwards, we drove to the Galilee which was breathtaking! When we arrived at our kibbutz, we held our first Kabbalat Shabbat as a group followed by a festive Shabbat dinner. We have already developed such a strong community here and are excited to continue to grow closer in the coming weeks!

More updates to come!
