Israel Journey #4A – Experiencing Air and Water: Tzfat and Rafting

We have had an incredible first week here in Israel!

Today, we started out with a walking tour of mystical Tzfat—the historic center of Judaism’s Kabbalah movement and a center for Jewish life during the Exile Era. We met with artist Avraham Leventhal and learned that Tzfat represents Air (Jerusalem represents fire, Tiberius represents water, and Hebron represents Earth). Hayden R. noted that “Tzfat was super fun and we learned about an aspect of Judaism through an artistic lense.”

We had some free time for lunch in Tzfat. Most of the group picked Yemenite pizza which was delish!! We then traveled to Israel’s Upper Galilee region and hiked the waterfalls of the Banias Nature Reserve. The afternoon wrapped up with kayaking the Jordan river in rafts, which Joshua G. describes as being “rocky but fun”!

Our day ended with fresh-cooked pizza dinner on the bank of the Jordan River.

This week was a blast and we can’t wait for more!
