ILSI – View from the Top (and Bottom)

We started day 5 very early with a wake up in our Bedouin tents. It was all worth it, though, when we set out for our sunrise hike up Masada. It was a challenging but rewarding hike, and at the top, we got to learn all about the time of King Harrod and the history of the fortress ruins we were exploring.

Then we began our hike down (waaaay easier than the hike up) and at the bottom we were rewarded with a refreshing dip in the Dead Sea. Well, dip might not be the right word. FLOAT would be more accurate.

We all got a chance to relax (and some of us napped) on the bus, and at our next stop we enjoyed another beautiful view at Mt. Scopus.

We then headed back to our accommodations and got ready for Shabbat. We kicked off our celebrations with a musical Kabbalat Shabbat. Then, we got to experience a real highlight with the full group Shabbat dinner. The atmosphere was so festive and fun and it was another amazing bonding moment for all of us.

We’re looking forward to an exciting week ahead!
