Stand UP DC#2: Multiple Ways to Service

Since our last update we have been up to a lot here in DC!

Half of the group prepped meals at Martha’s Table which gives out food to people experiencing homelessness around DC while the other half of our group visited the American History Museum. We then all came together to greet and thank veterans from WWII, Vietnam and Korea who were on an Honor Flight mission to the WWII memorial.

After we headed to Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger and learned about the Jewish response to hunger. The group did a simulation around lobbying city council and had a great time getting into character. Today (Thursday), we started off at BBYO International headquarters and had a presentation from our group leader Josh focused around finding your passions and what makes you happy.

We spent the afternoon at the National Coalition for the Homeless and hearing speakers talk about their experiences with homelessness. We had an exciting evening fill of bowling, karaoke and ping pong and got to meet a group of teens from Northern Ireland who added to the fun!
