Israel Journey #4C: From Poland to Israel

Yesterday was our first day in Eretz Yisrael! We slept in (late!) because of our over night flight from Poland. Fully rested, we set off for the City of David in Jerusalem. We learned about 6,000 year old walls and the founding of Jerusalem. That afternoon, we adventured through Hezekiah’s underground aqueduct tunnels. The tight and dark caves were a bit scary to some participants beforehand, but we conquered our fears as a group. The chilled water and shade also gave us a must needed respite from the blazing Israeli sun! We are quickly learning how to take the best care of ourselves in the heat. That evening, we had a Israeli dance workshop with Israel Journey 4B. Who knew there was so much history in Israeli dancing?!
Today (Thursday) we explored all the knooks and crannies of the Old City of Jerusalem including the Old City walls, markets, King David’s tomb, and the Western Wall. We reflected all together before the Western Wall and participated in the tradition of writing notes to leave in the cracks of the wall. Many of the teens reflected and took time with their notes, adding personality to every word.
That evening, we joined with every BBYO Passport trip currently in Israel for B’Yachad! Over 400 teens gathered for carnival rides, dance parties, photo booths, and a ceremony celebrating teen leadership and connection. Our own, Ashley N., Cleveland, OH, spoke about her experience in Central Europe and how that excited and humbled her for our journey through Israel. Laila tov after our exciting day!
