Italy Discovery 2B – Update #5

Hello Friends & Family!

We awoke Wednesday morning in Florence and took a small walk up to the Piazzale Michelangelo where we experienced a panoramic view of the city. After taking photos, we continued our tour of the city by visiting an ancient Spanish synagogue followed by the Galleria dell’Accademia, wherein sits Michaelangelo’s famous statue: David. We finished our day with a climb up the Campanile tower for an incredibly scenic view, followed up by some time to go shopping and eat gelato. Thursday morning we set off for Rome, but not before a stop in Pisa where we were going to visit one of the great structures in the world. We walked up the leaning tower and toured the square of miracles. Everyone got to take some really cool photos of themselves by the tower and had a great time venturing around the famous grounds. Finally, we hopped on the bus and arrived at our warrior training. We learned how to battle like the ancient Roman Empire and became gladiators for the day; learning techniques and strategies to win in battle. The night ended with a trip to another delicious Italian restaurant. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings!
