Italy Discovery 2B – Update #3

Hello Friends & Family!

The bus ride to Slovenia confirmed what we had heard: that we were about to enter one of the most beautiful countries in the world. The drive through the mountains gave us unbelievable scenery with hills, trees, and bodies of water everywhere we looked. First, we strapped on our helmets and hopped into our rafts to embark on a challenging, but extremely fun ride down the Soca River. The water was refreshing and the views, yet again, were those off of a post card. After taking in an incredible experience in one of Europe’s most beautiful rivers, we enjoyed a little rest and relaxation at our hotel pools and hot tubs, followed by some really fun team building games. We woke up and started a beautiful Monday with a trip to breathtaking Bled Island, where we took a tour of the famous Bled Castle, located above the crystal blue lake. After the tour, we walked down to the lake, where we enjoyed swimming, boating, and a water park with an incredible mountainous view as a backdrop. After cooling off for a little, we exercised our brains in an experience set for only the best detectives: an escape room. It was a long and challenging hour, but each group managed to escape before the clock ran out. We then took in the beautiful sights of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capitol. Tuesday brought about an early wake up for good reason: we were going to discover the underground Postojna cave systems. After a magnificent walking tour of the caves, we set off for Florence, but not before getting a special treat! We stopped in Bologna for a tour of the gelato factory, topped off with a delectable taste test of various flavours. Slovenia was a true treat. Now back to Italy!!!!
