Italy Discovery 2B – Final Update

Hello Parents & Teens!

Friday was a really special day as we headed to the Vatican City to explore famous sites like St. Peter’s Cathedral and the Sistine Chapel. We toured the grounds and explored the most beautiful rooms decorated by the art of Michelangelo and other famous Italian painters. After taking in the beautiful sights of the Vatican, we ventured to the Coliseum to walk the grounds where the Roman Empire reigned years ago. After these two historic sights, we prepared for Shabbat and enjoyed the melodic services at an old synagogue in Rome followed by Shabbat dinner. Saturday morning, we got together for some games, meditation, and stories before heading out on the town for lunch. Following the meal, we set out for a walking tour of the city including: the Jewish quarter, the Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps. We concluded Shabbat with a special Havdalah service for the whole group. On our last full day, we boarded a bus to Pompeii, the preserved ancient Roman city. This was an incredible historical tour which ended with a breathtaking hike up Mount Vesuvius. It was like walking in the clouds as we walked alongside the dormant volcano. Now back to Rome for dinner and closing activities. See you soon!!!!!
