Italy Discovery 1A – Update #4

Bonne Notte! Coming to you from our last night on or two week Italian adventure. As we say bon voyage to this glorious county, let’s look back at the last few days.

Friday was a pleasant morning in Rome where we did not meet the Pope but did get to explore the Vatican. We had lunch on St. Mark’s Square to gear up for a trip to the Coliseum. After our Gladiator for a day training on Thursday night, we were ready to go in the ring. We learned about the gladiators and how they would starve the lions for 5 days before releasing them into the ring for a fight. We concluded our night with a fabulous Shabbat at the local Roman Sephardic synagogue and enjoyed sleeping in on Saturday morning.

After Shabbat programming, we explored the rest of the sites in Rome – the Jewish quarter, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. Our final day in Italy took us to Pompeii where we explored the ruins and climbed Mt. Vesuvius to take in the panoramic views of Naples.

We have had the greatest time traveling throughout Italy, but we are beyond excited to get on the ground in Israel tomorrow -our 4th country on this trip! (We’ve already hit Italy, Slovenia, and Vatican City). Stay tuned for updates from the Holy Land.
