Israel Journey 3B Update

Dear Family and Friends,

Please enjoy this update from Emma Fortier, one of the teens on our trip!

This past week was elective week, I did Gadna with young members of the IDF. It was great bonding experience for all the kids, who where split into small groups for the week. We all bonded over the work and excitement of shooting and cleaning guns and building strong friendships. We slept the first night under the stars and started the first morning with a 5 AM hike to see the sunrise. We than had several lessons on guns and combat on the second day. On Wednesday we went into the shooting range and shot guns, using the same guns the IDF soldiers use. Every morning we changed into our uniforms and cleaned our rooms to experience the life of a real Israeli soldier. Throughout the week we were taught many lessons on respect for our rooms, eachother, and ourselves. Other campers enjoyed community service and a hike across Israel.
