Israel Journey 3A Update

Dear Family and Friends,

Please enjoy this update from Cecelia Ashenberg, one of the teens on our trip!

On Tuesday morning, we all woke up, packed up everything and made our way to the beautiful Arava Agricultural site. We learned all about how they grew trees and created food in the Arava desert! It was spectacular!! Afterwards we made our way to the Dead Sea where we had a blast floating, covering ourselves in mud to make our skin silky soft and eating some really delicious food! After that, due to the crazy heat wave, we made our way to a mall and hung out there for a while! When we were all cooled off, we treked to the Bedouin tents where we had some delicious coffee and tea, and then went on a spectacular camel ride!! After dinner, we had a bonfire where we sang songs and then made our way out into the desert for a meditation and reflection session led by our wonderful counselors. Then off to bed as the next morning, we woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 4:30am for a hike up Masada! After taking a bunch of pictures, our amazing tour guide, Alon, took us all over Masada and explained to us how important that site is to our heritage. After hiking down, we made our way to Ein Gedi where we saw the gorgeous waterfalls, and then went to get some snacks and ice cream and then made our way to Jerusalem! Hopefully our last few days will be just as amazing as this whole trip has been, and can’t wait for more adventures to come!
