Israel Journey 2A update #2

Sunday July 1 2018 by Kyle Bakhshi

Today we explored the Golan Heights. We began our day with a beautiful hike in one of the mountains to the biggest waterfall in that area. We learned about the history of the Golan Heights and how Israel gained that territory. I thought the waterfall was beautiful. Our tour guide Ohri gave an interesting lesson.

We then went to a kibbutz and learned about kibbutz life from a Russian man living on the kibbutz. He then took us to a zoo on the kibbutz. They had puppies, a donkey, guinea pigs, rabbits, horses, camels, rams, goats, alpacas, sheep, deer and chickens.

Following the zoo we took Jeep tours near the Syrian border. We visited a former Syrian headquarters and were taught about the complex history between Israel, Syria and the surrounding countries.

We ended our night with a group activity where we discussed things such as is Israel is a safe place, and is Judaism only a religion? We have been in Israel for almost one week and I’ve loved every second of it!
