Israel Journey 5C: Update #5

Dear Friends and Family,

Shalom from Northern Israel!
We are sad to be heading into our final week as a community and excited for what’s to come!

We have had a fun filled few days in Malkia, Upper Galilee. After ending a sweet Shabbat as a community in Jerusalem, we spent Sunday prepping for the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. We then had a fun night out at the famous Ben Yehuda Street where we shopped, saw street performers and enjoyed the beautiful summer evening.

Monday morning we checked out of our hotel and went to Yad Vashem where we had a special tour focusing on the aftermath of the Holocaust. Our tour guide at Yad Vashem, Alice, prepared a unique presentation tying together our experience in Europe and our concentration camp visits. It was an interesting and emotional experience.

We had a pizza lunch and took a three-hour bus ride north to the Upper Galilee, Kibbutz Malkia. We watched the beautiful sunset as a group and had a delicious dinner on the kibbutz.

Then Tuesday was one of our most memorable days of the journey as we woke up early for a river rafting adventure on the Jordan River. We ate handmade fresh pizza and then went on a fun tour of the Northern region of Israel on a historical off road jeep tour of the Golan. After cooling off in streams and singing our hearts out on the jeep tour we drove to Mt. Ben-Tal where we saw an incredible view of Israel’s neighbors Jordan and Syria.

The day did not stop there – we headed to the beaches of the Kinneret where we enjoyed some swim time followed by a memorable BBQ dinner and surprise ice cream stop!

We are loving every minute of Israel and can’t wait for the week ahead.

Chelsea and Bradley
