Israel Journey 4: Update #3

Dear Family and Friends,

These past two days in the Golan Heights have been jam packed with fun! On Monday morning we explored the mystical city of Tzfat! We were introduced to the ideas of the Kabbalah and heard from artist Avraham Lowenthal. It was awesome! We then toured one of Tzfat’s synagogues and visited the famous candle shop. Our teens had a lot of time to explore the artists’ shops and galleries and enjoyed lunch together.

Later that day, we had fun cooling off rafting in the Jordan River. While some raced each other to reach the end, others relaxed as they drifted down the river. We returned to the hotel for more pool time and snacks. After dinner at the kibbutz, our teens were split into committees. We have various Shabbat committees as well as a birthday committee, team building committee, and navigation committee, just to name a few. We are really excited to see all of their great ideas come to life!

On Tuesday morning, we started the day with a mitzvah! We helped clean up one of Israel’s forests to prevent future forest fires from spreading. Afterwards, we got to make our own pizza lunches. Some of the teens even got creative –  making pancakes out of the dough and adding Nutella,  or Israeli cheeses and olive oil to make a more traditional Israeli pita lunch.

After lunch, we made a quick snack stop and many of us cooled off with ice cream on the hot day. We then made our way to the natural springs of Sachne! The water felt great!!

We had a little more free time when we got back to the kibbutz before dinner. To end this eventful day, we had a guest teach us Israeli dancing! We danced the night away and are ready for an exciting day tomorrow… !

Laila tov!
