Israel Journey 1: Update #3

Dear Friends and Families,

On Saturday, we got to sleep in a little later for Shabbat.  The much needed rest was greatly appreciated, as the jet lag was slowly diminishing.  We took a walk around the Old City Akko, through the shuk and to the Mediterranean Sea.  It was beautiful.

After lunch we went to the beach – in the Mediterranean Sea!!!!!!  Don’t worry, we are constantly applying sunscreen and everybody is wearing their hats!!!!!!!

We ended the day with a beautiful Havdalah service and then an amazing cruise on the Mediterranean Sea.  We danced and laughed and had a great evening.

On Sunday, we woke up bright and early, checked out of our hotel and went on a beautiful hike through Ma’arat HaKeshet to see the “rainbow” bridge.  From there we went to Rosh Hanikra and took a cable car down to amazing grottos.  The sea was the most beautiful blue color that any of us had ever seen.  Then we went to volunteer at a place called Ekipo, which is a facility for adults with special needs.  We had a dance party, painted pictures, played soccer and had a great time.  It was very fulfilling to work with these adults and we all had a great time.  Then we drove to our new hotel in the Kinneret.  The view of the mountains is beautiful!

On Monday, we went to the mystical city of Tzfat.  We met an amazing artist, toured the city and got to do some shopping.  We had fun buying jewelry, candles, Judaic ritual objects and snacks!  Then we went rafting down the Jordan River followed by a Ropes Course, Rock climbing and Zip Lining into the river.  It was an amazing day!

We will continue to post and continue to keep you updated!

For pictures of their journey, please check out our trip Facebook album which we will be updating regularly.

Best,
