International Leadership Seminar in Israel: Update #2

ILSI 2017
Update # 2

Dear Friends and Families!

This past Shabbat we celebrated together in the mystical and holycity of Tzfat. We sang and danced with locals and experienced a Shabbat service that most of us have not experienced before. This new experience taught us to explore who is in our community and how we welcome others into our communities. We returned to the hotel for a festive dinner, filled with more song and dance.

Saturday morning we chose between two different Shabbat morning prayer services. One at the Abuhav Synagogue – a local Sephardi synagogue, and the other at our hotel led by our teens! We spent a restful day at the hotel, where we participated in teen and staff-led programming and an optional tour of the citadel in Tzfat. After dinner we closed Shabbat with Havdallah and departed the hotel for Tiberias, for shopping and a disco boat cruise on the Kinneret, the Sea of Galilee.

On Sunday, we toured the Old City of Tzfat, learned about some of the great Rabbis that called Tzfat home and the impact they left throughout our Jewish and secular worlds. We met a local artist who shared with us his connection to Kabbalah through his art. We saw major city highlights and enjoyed the natural beauty that surrounded us. After shopping, we boarded the buses and hiked in Chatzbani. We walked through the natural stream, which feeds the Kinneret, and enjoyed time splashing around in the water.

Our next few days are packed with exciting sites, impactful programs and fun experiences. We’re looking forward to rafting tomorrow on the Jordan River…. !

B’ahavah (with love),
Your ILSI Staff
