Trek Costa Rica (Bus B): Kayaking, Jaco, and Manuel Antonio National Park

Hola from Costa Rica! We have been having a great time so far exploring Costa Rica and getting to know your sweet and hilarious children. The teens so far have been having a good time reuniting with old friends while making many new ones!

We arrived in San Jose after a hectic day of traveling and immersed ourselves in Costa Rican culture with an authentic dinner from Pizza Hut (wink wink). In the morning, we drove to a town called Jaco on the pacific coast of the country. We enjoyed kayaking the blue ocean waters to a private beach, where we played soccer and snorkeled with out Costa Rican kayak guides. After kayaking, we took a short hike up to a viewpoint and played some ice breaker games. We then returned to the hotel for an afternoon of swimming in the pool and relaxing.

Thursday, we left early for Manuel Antonio national park. At the park, we walked on a rainforest trail and saw sloths and monkeys! The end of the trail led to a gorgeous, sandy beach, where the kids enjoyed swimming in the clear waters. When eating our sack lunches on the beach, a raccoon came right up to us to sniff out our food! Although we shooed it away, it manage to take one of our extra sandwiches! After the beach, we spent some time shopping in downtown Jaco and returned to the hotel for dinner. We wrapped up the night with a few games and had a special guest come to make us animals and crowns out of reeds.

It’s safe to say that we are keeping busy! We are excited to return to San Jose tomorrow for a day of community service and a Shabbat experience at the local synagogue. That’s all for now!
