Trek Costa Rica (Bus A): La Fortuna Waterfalls and Rancho Margot

We can’t believe that almost a week has gone by since we all touched down I beautiful Costa Rica. On Friday we continued our adventures by spending a relaxing afternoon at the Baldi Hot Springs. The kids had a wonderful time riding down the water slides which led them to the water naturally heated from the volcano in a small town known as “La Fortune.”

After an afternoon at the waters slides we made our way to Rancho Margot which is a self sufficient organic ranch. Upon arrival we were instantly welcomed with open arms by the locals. After settling in, we all took a guided tour of the ranch where we were able to visit the different animals that the ranch cares for. We then shared a delicious home cooked Shabbat meal. Friday night was capped off with a group bonding activity.

For the early morning risers, Saturday morning offered our teens an opportunity to help our the ranch staff milk the cows followed by a reading pre-breakfast yoga session. Saturday also offered our teens to go horse back riding to a beautiful view point overlooking the entire lake. We then closed off Shabbat with havdallah followed by a Latin dance show.

Sunday morning we departed for a short hike where we were able to catch a glimpse of the active volcano in Arenal national park. We then made our to La Fortuna waterfalls where we got a chance to cool off in the river. Our weekend was closed off with an evening hike in the Monte Verde cloud forest community. Stay tuned to hear more about our amazing Costa Rican adventures!
