Stand UP South Africa: Cape Town and Kalk Bay

The last two mornings were again spent volunteering at the same primary school in Khayelitsha. After that we had lunch right on the waters of Kalk Bay at the Brass Bell, and headed straight to boulders beach where we had a great time with the Penguins!

We then traveled to the Malay area of cape town where Jasmina welcomed us into her home and taught us how to make chile bites, samosas, and roti. We had everything we made for supper, and then headed home- stuffed! After volunteering today we drove to Langa where we toured the township on bikes and learned about the history of the area.

In Langa, we made our way to the market where everyone was very excited to bargain for good deals. After that we did a Bo Kaap walking tour of the colorful houses in the Malay area led by our incredible tour guide Jeremy. On our way back to Kalk Bay we drove past Clifton beach, Chapman’s Peak, and camps bay. Next stop- ice cream! Tomorrow we are leaving very early for our shark cage diving in Hermanus. Already our last weekend here – we can’t believe how quickly time has flown.
