Pacific Connect: Hello from San Francisco!

Although we’re fighting off some jet lag, we had a fabulous first day here in San Francisco! Wednesday, everyone met on UC Berkeley’s welcoming campus and got to know each other through ice breakers.

Thursday morning we had a delicious breakfast in the dining hall, and then we were off! We started the day at Twin Peaks: a beautiful, mountainous view of our home for the next few days. Following this photo op, we made our way to China Town and finally got to ride the famous San Francisco cable car. Despite the windy conditions, the participants loved this classic experience.
When we got off the cable car, we were at San Fran’s crookedest street! As we made our way carefully down Lombard St., we enjoyed the scenery and flowers galore. We then made our way to Fisherman’s Wharf where we had a quick lunch before boarding the boat to Alcatraz. The teens got an informative audio tour of this infamous prison’s history.
To end our day of touring, we stopped at one of San Fran’s largest and most beautiful synagogues. Finally, we quickly stopped at the famous Full House house and then the Pink Ladies — the most beautiful Victorian houses! The teens are all becoming fast friends from both trips, and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the trip has in store!
