Italy Discovery #3: Farewell Venice, Hello Slovenia!

Sunday morning we said our goodbyes to our quaint little hotel in Venice and to our favorite waitress that would make us custom coffees. We left Venice via train where we met our bus again on the main land and headed towards Slovenia! We arrived in the afternoon to go white water rafting down the Soča River and had a quick picnic lunch. Then we geared up in water shoes, a wet suit, life vest and helmet and headed down the path to the crystal blue water.

We hopped in our rafts and had a quick instructional/safety speech and off we went into the crisp clear water. Our guide let us hop out at certain points to swim and he even made a water slide for us in an opening of the river with our raft and a rock. After we completed the course we got a chance to grab our cameras and take some fun water photos, and some of us even played frisbee in the water.

After a quick change into dry clothes we loaded on our bus for a 2 hour ride to our hotel. When we got there we had some time to freshen up and then enjoyed an all you can eat buffet for dinner. Afterwards we had some free time around the hotel and played games in the lobby before bed time.

We also wanted to update you that upon our arrival to Rome on Thursday, we will be staying a new hotel – Pace Helvezia. This hotel is centrally located and only a 15 minute walk from the Great Synagogue!
