Italy Discovery #1: Adventures in Pisa then southwards to Rome

Buongiorno parents and families! We are so beyond happy to say that we have truly become one big family of 42 (37 teens and 5 staff)! The group has shared many laughs together, enjoyed breathtaking sights, and each participant has stepped outside their comfort zone in ways they never would have imagined, making them stronger more independent teenagers! Here’s a little update of our day: Today we woke up bright and early to depart from Montecatini to Pisa.

We arrived in Pisa and couldn’t believe we were standing in front of the famous tower we had seen so many pictures of all our lives! We climbed up to the top and could feel how far the tower was leaning. We then took full advantage of the photo op, trying out different poses to get the perfect picture holding the tower. We also had a good laugh watching hundreds of tourists around us pose for pictures.

Next we began our adventure south towards Rome, with a quick pit stop for lunch. We entertained ourselves on the bus with some games including a karaoke competition and speed dating! The teens really enjoyed getting to know ask each other questions they may not have otherwise asked. When we arrived in Rome we headed straight to Gladiator for a Day where we learned about the lives of gladiators in Ancient Rome. We got to dress up as gladiators and compete against our friends. We were super impressed by everyone’s skills!

We arrived at our hotel and walked around the corner to a restaurant for dinner where we got to watch France win the soccer game. The staff wanted to recognize how incredible the group has been that we had a pizza party on the rooftop of the hotel! We’re incredibly excited to really start exploring Rome tomorrow! Stay tuned for an update of our weekend!
