Israel Journey #4 (Bus A): Masada and the Beauty of Ein Gedi

Shalom everyone! Wednesday started very very early in the morning as we made our way from the Bedouin tent to Masada, as we climb up the Roman path to get to the top in time to watch the sunrise over Masada, which was a very beautiful experience. We then spent a couple hours touring Masada and learning about the story of the Jews who lived there.

After descending down the Snake path, we had a late breakfast and made our way to the Dead Sea. Here we floated in the extremely salty lake and enjoyed the beach time there. We then moved on to Ein Gedi to experience the waterfall that’s in the oasis of the desert. Following that, we made our way back to Jerusalem to rest and relax for the last few days of our trip.

Thursday we started our day with a solemn visit to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial museum. Following a lunch, we had the special opportunity to tour the Knesset, the Israeli parliament building. We then moved to Ammunition Hill to learn about the battle for Jerusalem during the Six-day war. We then went back to our hotel to have a talk with a staff member from HUC to talk about Jewish Pluralism in Israel. We then made our way to Ben Yehuda street for a night of shopping and eating.
