Western Europe Discovery #2: Normandy Beach and the Palace of Versailles

Bonjour Again from France! We woke up at 4:30am and got off the boat by around 6:00am. We then rode the bus for an hour on our way to the Normandy Beach Memorial. By the graves, we said Kaddish in a circle which was a really unique experience. After the memorial, we went to a World War II museum in Canes. After that, we rode for around 4 hours to Paris and got to the hotel at 6:20pm. We had dinner at 8:00 and went to sleep at 11:00. Overall, it was a long day, but we had a good time. – Amit Schwartz
Tuesday morning, we first went to the Palace of Versailles. We toured the palace and beautiful gardens. It was amazing to see how large and extravagant the palace was; it was more beautiful than we could have Imagined. Following this, we went to the Latin quarter for lunch, where many of us bought some of the best gelato in France.

Notre Dame was our next stop, a gorgeous cathedral in Paris, and another amazing architectural sight. The ambiance of the day turned more serious as we then visited Frances Holocaust memorial, the Shoah Museum, which was a personal experience for many. We did a bit of shopping on the Champs Elysees before going out to dinner where some of us tried Escargot. Then we returned to the hotel in order to rest up for another fun filled day! – Shosh Schwartz
